We are using email addresses for FYI's, to keep members and volunteers updated on events, etc. if you wish to be added to this list, email me: VeraDeaver@ufl.edu please use 4-H in subject line.
All paperwork/applications are due in our office by 5 PM on the advertised deadline. 4-H’ers, when dropping off paperwork, come to the door that is labeled “Employee Entrance”, the one that faces SR 19. If no one is available, please put the paperwork in the box on the pick up table. Be sure to note on the clip board what you dropped. If I am available, I really need to look over the paperwork before you leave. Incomplete paperwork will be returned.

Scholarships & Awards
Carol H. Skinner Lake County Alumni Scholarship: $500
The Carol H. Skinner Scholarship was established by the Brecheen family in honor of Mrs. Skinner and her many years of service to the Lake County 4-H Program. This scholarship is intended to provide support to 4-H alumni who are currently serving as Lake County 4-H volunteers and are attending, or plan to attend, Lake-Sumter Community College.
Additional Opportunities
4-H Summer Camp Ocala scholarships will be award to members that 1) complete a project book 2) participate in Share the Fun or Fashion Revue and 3) enter County Events.

State 4-H Events
State 4-H Congress
Held on the campus of the University of Florida during the summer, this is a fabulous week in which 4-H members can have fun and learn alongside other 4-H'ers from all over Florida. Congress is divided into competitive and non-competitive sessions. The non-competitive portion is devoted to educational workshops on a variety of subjects addressing the interests of Florida's youth. The competitive portion of the event is where first place senior District Winners compete against other District Winners in a variety of events. County 4-H Teams also compete against one another in various Judging Team Contests. In addition, each county sends their two voting delegates to attend the State 4-H Council Meetings. Interviews for State Recognition and Scholarship applicants are conducted during this event.
JR Congress-District VIII for INT 4-H members age 11-13
This is a weekend to explore what the 4-H program has to offer you as a senior 4-H member. Join other 4-Her’s from around the district and state to make new friends, discover your potential, gain leadership skills, attend a variety of interesting workshops, have fun, compete for a spirit award and plan your future path into the next 4-H century!
LAW - Leadership Adventure Weekend
Held in Jan or Feb, this is a weekend event designed to provide leadership training to 4-Hers across the state. The goal is for participants to use newly acquired skills in their counties and districts and to provide some training for other 4-H'ers on various leadership topics. 4-Hers will also learn more about 4-H opportunities, donor relations, effective communication, and how to be an effective member of a team. It is a fun learning experience that you definitely do not want to miss! (Camp Ocala)

State 4-H Legislature
The Florida 4-H Legislature is a five day learning laboratory in state government designed to give participants educational experiences such as: learning about the functions of state level government, becoming informed about the state system of government, serving as mock legislators, reporters or lobbyists, meeting in the committee rooms of the House of Representatives as well as the House Chambers, and touring the State Capitol, Supreme Court, Archives and/or other State Buildings.
National 4-H Photography Contest
National 4-H Council needs winning photos from state & County fairs 03-2008 to create the 2010 4-H Calendar. 13 Photographs will be selected.

County Events Day
Power point can be used in the demos, the participant must provide everything needed & be able set up & taken down quickly. Also acceptable is a video running in the background, for example someone brushing a horse with the participant talking over it instructing how to brush a horse.
